Meeting called to order at 11:50 a.m. by Renato Carotti (Secretary).

- Ren went over updates from AIBD
- Kristen updated everyone on sending out emails to invite people to our meetings and who is coming up in the next few months for presenters…
- June – Origin Doors & Windows (their product)
- July – Tubular Skylight (their product)
- August – Phantom Screens (their product)
- Steve Lewis would like to have a presentation on construction law & copy rights
- Steve Lewis would also like to hear about open and closed cell foam.
- Drew Smith from Two Trails started his presentation at 12:15 p, & went till 1:17 pm.
- Drew’s presentation was on “green” building which is now called sustainable building.
- Drew is NOT a fan of closed cell foam for Florida. Closed cell in Florida should only be used when building a wine cooler & underside of a floor of a raised platform home.
- Spray foam has fire retardant in it.
- Ways to have a more sustainable home…
- Natural landscaping
- Native plants
- Rain collector
- Compost
- Solar panels
- Wind turbine
- Light colored exterior walls & roof or metal roof
- Energy efficient low impact windows and glass
- High quality insulation & sealing (upgrading wall insulation does not help all that much)
- Duct work sealed with Mastic on the inside
- Central dehumidification system
- Low flow & duel flush toilets
- Energy star light fixtures & appliances
- Minimize Carpet
