Join us for the First Tuesday @ 2:00 (p.m. ET) and learn more about window and door ratings, how they are rated, how to determine what rating you need in your design, and how the newly adopted energy codes will affect what you specify. Our guest is Ray McGowan, Senior Program Manager of the National Fenestration Rating Council. Ray will also introduce us the O.C.E.A.N. website and how it has become a great tool for design professionals who work regionally and nationally.
AIBD’s Live Design goes to Vegas.
AIBD is partnering with NAHB’s Best in American Living Awards and becoming involved in local communities through a live design competition that is conducted at the International Builders’ Show this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Builders, Remodelers, Architects and Designers were encouraged to participate and give back to the community through good design.
AIBD’s own Larry Gilland (CO) and Bernie Kern (CO) are facing off against Kevin Holdridge (NC) and Chuck Harrison (PA), along with one other team of designers, while IBS attendees watch the design process unfolded in front of their eyes on the exhibit floor. The Teams are designing a home for a wounded US military person and their finished product will be build for the warrior by Building Homes For Heroes. The designs are due at the end of the day on Tuesday and will be judged on Wednesday by a jury, as well as those in attendance at the IBS. On Thursday, the winner is announced on the Live Stage in the Central building at IBS.

AIBD’s Mid-year Meetings start on Thursday.
The AIBD House of Delegates meet twice each year, once at the annual convention and the second time at a winter meeting in conjunction with the NAHB’s International Builders Show. It’s titled as a “mid-year” meeting because AIBD’s fiscal year is from July 1 to June 30. The meetings are being held at the Las Vegas Marriott, in Las Vegas, NV, across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center. Thursday includes meetings of the Board of Directors, the Society Officers Committee and the NCBDC, with a break to attend the Live Design award presentation. All day Friday is the House of Delegates meeting. Use the links below to view the meeting agenda and the attached meeting materials.
