March 5, 2012. What’s happening @AIBD_national?

….NCBDC Examiners meet.

Beginning today, the NCBDC Board of Examiners will be meeting, by conference call, on the first Monday of every month. NCBDC policy only requires two meetings per year. The additional meetings are needed to kick-start the process of preparing to apply for ANSI accreditation.

Today’s order of business is to review and approve the policies and procedures for soliciting and accepting applications for the Board of Examiners. The potential for six additional Board members was approved in 2011.

…A full week of outreach meetings.

AIBD will be meeting with two other nonprofit association and one publisher this week.

  • Tuesday, Dave Chic of the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) will be arriving to DC from Indianapolis to visit with AIBD. In 2011, CEDIA overhauled their strategic planning and Dave plans on meeting with Steve Mickley to discuss the opportunities available to AIBD in the CEDIA’s future.
  • Wednesday, Peter Miller of Restore Media will be meeting with Steve to discuss the future of the relationship the publisher has with AIBD. In the past, Restore Media has published articles and provided complimentary advertising in its magazines and has provided exhibit space to host AIBD’s Traditional Design Challenge during it’s trade shows. However, in 2011, Restore Media sold some of its magazines and scaled down the Traditional Building Conference and Exposition down to just a series of educational conferences.
  • Thursday, Steve is dropping  by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to meet with Brenda Sanders and Andrea Raggambi to discuss the potential relationships that can be built involving joint venture education and designation programs.
