…Student scholarships are available.
The Institute’s College of Fellows awards two scholarships each year, the College of Fellows Memorial Scholarship and the Annette Farmer Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship recipient is awarded $1000 and they are named at the AIBD National Convention.
The scholarship winners will be announced August 8th at St. Thomas Preservation Hall in Wilmington, NC during as a part of the AIBD National Convention. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2012.

…The HPMA meets for the first time.
The House Plan Marketing Alliance (HPMA), a new AIBD council established at the 2011 annual convention, is conducting its first meeting of members today at 5:00 pm ET. The objective of the HPMA is to is unite, promote and protect the interests of members, customers and the pre-drawn house plan industry, as well as create a forum for discussion between designers, publisher and affiliates. Since August 2011, seven companies have joined the Alliance.

Tuesday afternoon Steve Mickley meets with Hillary Gottemoeller and Jennifer Pearce of Hanley Wood consumer publications division to discuss the progress of an AIBD exclusive pre-drawn plan sales website. Originally planned for a Winter 2012 launch, changes in the AIBD administrative structure and the design of the website platform have caused delays. Steve will report the results of the meeting in the AIBD LinkedIn and FaceBook groups.
…the NHCA Legislative Conference.
Steve Mickley has been invited to attend the National Hispanic Construction Association’s (NHCA) third annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. “It’s not just about providing affordable housing for Latino communities, the NHCA is working to insure that the contracts and employment opportunities are there for businesses and workers.” Steve says. “I look forward to learning more about their specific concerns and the part AIBD might play in spreading awareness of building design opportunities.”
