November 18, 2013. What’s happening @AIBD_National?

AIBD CE…A webinar on Thursday.

Join us for a presentation outlining how to specify insulated siding as an exterior cladding and home insulation in the context of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and other related programs (e.g. Weatherization Assistance Program and ENERGY STAR). The webinar will clearly demonstrate how to use insulated siding as an exterior cladding to meet energy codes and to achieve specific R-value objectives.

This presentation is hosted by the American Institute of Building Design and presented by Fernando Pagés Ruiz, Associate Editor at Buildipedia.com and a Contributing Writer for Fine Homebuilding. Attendance is FREE for its members and guests, however, registration is still required.

AIBD_Convention_iCORD Logo…Help choose the AIBD 2017 convention location.

The AIBD Convention Site Selection Subcommittee would like your help rating the eight cities they have chosen as possible host cities for the 2017 AIBD Annual Convention and ICORD (the educational portion of the event). The conference moves to various regions throughout North America each year. In 2014 the event will be held in Columbus, OH (www.AIBDconvention.com). In 2015, AIBD will be in Providence, RI and in 2016 the House of Delegates have chosen Vancouver, BC. In 2017 the South Central U.S. region has been chosen. Before submitting your rankings, click the links below to view information on each city. To view an AIRFARE COMPARISON matrix, visit www.AIBDconvention.com/airfare.pdf.

As a result of your evaluation, the top three rated cities in the 2017 survey will be considered by the House of Delegates in February, 2014. Any AIBD Societies wishing to have the Delegates consider a city not on this list may contact the Subcommittee by writing info@AIBD.org by December 31, 2013.

…Register for BALA Live Design @IBS

The Best in American Living Awards is expanding and becoming involved in local communities through a live design competition that is conducted at the International Builders’ Show. Builders, Remodelers, Architects and Designers were encouraged to participate and give back to the community through good design. IBS attendees got to watch as the design process unfolded in front of their eyes on the exhibit floor as well as observe the design teams present their work to a panel of judges.

In 2013, the NAHB Design Committee partnered with the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) and Operation Finally Home to put on the live design competition. The competition focused on designing a home for one of America’s wounded veterans returning from war. Working with set parameters, such as lot size, square footage, energy efficiency, accessibility and style, design teams had nine hours to complete their designs.
