…Seeking opportunities at DOE.
AIBD Executive Director Steve Mickley is scheduled to spend Wednesday morning at the U.S. Department of Energy meeting with Sam Rashkin, chief architect, DOE Building Technologies Program. The Building Technologies Program works to improve the efficiency of buildings and the equipment, components, and systems within them. The program supports research and development (R&D) activities and provides tools, guidelines, training, and access to technical and financial resources.
Mr. Rashkin is also the author of the book Retooling the U.S. Housing Industry, which analyzes the housing market, beginning with warning signs that preceded its collapse by a decade. He presents a comprehensive strategy for reinventing the housing industry in this time of crisis. The AIBD National Convention Education Subcommittee, inspired by his writings, is organizing a 2-day Open Space workshop August 7-8, 2012 in Wilmington, NC with the goal of helping building designers to retool and thrive in the “new normal.” (More information will soon be posted at www.AIBDconvention.com)
