WASHINGTON, DC – Judging of the American Residential Design Awards (ARDA) entries begins this Thursday and the competition’s committee is looking for more online judges. ARDA stopped receiving entries this past Friday and technicians will be working over the next three days to build online slide shows. The online judging process consists of two phases and volunteers can commit to one or both.
Round One – Judges are asked to review 20 to 30 entries and rate each based on 12 areas of criteria. The ARDA Committee estimates that this should take a total of three to four hours. Judges have ten days between June 28 and July 8 to complete their scoring. At least three entries in each category will be chosen during this process to move to Round Two. Even those who have submitted ARDA entries may qualify to judge categories they are not competing in.
Round Two – A select group of judges will meet online on July 9 to determine the first and second place entries in each category. This meeting will take a full day. No one competing in this year’s ARDA will be allowed to judge Phase 2.
To be considered as a judge for either Phase 1 or Phase 2, please contact the ARDA Committee by writing ARDA@AIBDmember.org.

PASADENA, CA – Don’t take your chances; guarantee your AIBD group rate room at the Langham today. Visit www.AIBDconvention.com and click on “Hotel Info.”
The AIBD Convention Committee has reserved a certain number of sleeping rooms at the Langham Huntington hotel in Pasadena, CA. Today, any reserved rooms that are not rented go back to the hotel. That doesn’t mean rooms won’t be available at the group rate after today. But whether or not those rooms are made available will be up to the hotel’s availability.
Our room rate is $189.00 a single or double room. (Plus state and local taxes – approximately 15%) To make your reservation, call the number above and reference AIBD. The discounted room rate is available three days before and three days after the event, based on availability.
A credit card may be given to guarantee guest room reservations. The credit card will not be charged until the guest checks out of the hotel. Attendees will be individually responsible for payment of their own room, tax and incidentals. Cancellations are accepted, without penalty, up to 24 hours to the registered arrival date.

…PA CE legislation recommitted to RULES.
HARRISBURG, PA – Introduced in April, Pennsylvania House Bill 1096 was recommitted to the Rules Committee on June 17th. The proposed legislation would require 24 hours of continuing education as a condition of the biannual renewal of an architectural license. Twelve of the 24 hours would need to be health, safety and welfare credits. The bill also gives the State Architectural Licensure Board the authority to determine, maintain and enforce a Continuing Education Policy.
