…AIBD wishes GM success in new position, thanks for years of hard work!
On Friday, our General Manager, Whit Peterson will be moving to California to take on a new chapter in his life. Whit has accepted the position as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Newport Beach, California. “Whit has been a great asset to the AIBD over the years and a oustanding partner to work with. He will be greatly missed and I wish him the best as he moves on to bigger and better things.” Says Steve Mickley, Executive Director.
In his new position, Whit will be serving the Mayor in multiple capacities including policy making, fundraising, community outreach, and his re-election campaign in 2014. “I’m looking forward to being closer to family, warm winters, and year round golf.” Whit said to the MM. When asked about his time with AIBD he replied, “AIBD has been a wonderful organization to work with over the last three years. The people are what make this organization really special. Over my time working with the Institute I’ve had the pleasure to meet, and work with, some very talented and driven people. The AIBD is important and its mission of protecting and furthering the design profession is an honorable one.”

…AIBD 2014 Convention host hotel featured in design magazine.
The Hilton Columbus Downtown hotel welcomes visitors with easy access to more than 300 dining and entertainment venues, Ohio State University and the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The $140 million project began in 2009 and opened in October 2012. Designed by architects HOK and Moody-Nolan, the hotel was named the Best Urban Development of 2012 by Columbus Underground and one of New York magazine’s recommendations of where to stay in Columbus.

Congratulations to AIBD Certified Member Phil Kean for being named the 2013 Master Custom Builder Council’s “Builder of the Year”!
