AIBD President Elect Kevin Holdridge met last Friday with the Texas Institute of Building Design (TIBD) Board of Directors to finalize a memorandum of agreement between the two independent building designer organizations. The purpose of the strategic alliance is to create a working relationship between the two associations and their chapters. The following are some of the highlights and objectives of the alliance.

  • Inform the industry and public about this strategic alliance and keep them informed of their cooperative efforts.
  • Utilize partner educational sessions at AIBD and TIBD functions and events.
  • Provide mutual website links.
  • Encourage members to collaborate.
  • Create awareness of this alliance with other design or build industry related organizations.
  • To actively and continuously seek other areas and services where cooperation and support will be mutually beneficial for members.

“We look forward to working with TIBD to further our mission to enhance, educate and promote the value of the residential design professional.” Kevin Holdridge expressed during his visit with the Texas designers organization.

Although Texas has a completely autonomous state-wide building designer organization, it has been one of the fastest growing states in terms of new members. In the past 11 months, AIBD has recruited 34 new members in Texas which ties North Carolina and edges out Florida with 32, South Carolina with 24 and California with 18 new members.

Kevin’s visit with the TIBD Board of Directors was a part of the TIBD Annual Convention held in Marble Falls, TX, Friday and Saturday. In addition to educational sessions, the conference included a visit to the Coldspring Granite facility and the TIBD design competition awards dinner.

Market yourself using a new animated video by AIBD.

The American Institute of Building Design has released a new whiteboard animated marketing video for use by its certified members. The video may be embedded on certified members’ websites and social media pages for free. Or the video may be customized to reflect the individual CPBD, his or her firm and contact information. For $450, you can have the final 20 seconds (+/-) of the video customized to reflect your name and contact information.

“As I travel, I’m constantly asked, ‘What is a certified building designer?’ Says AIBD’s cheif staff officer, Steve Mickley. “It’s taken us six decades, but now you can explain what you do in under 90 seconds.” Typically, a two minute whiteboard video costs $3000. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in concert with other CPBDs and market your own practice at the same time for just a fraction of the cost.

The video is produced by the Draw Shop. The Draw Shop‘s first intention is to make jaws drop and mouths say “WHOA!” Their team has created animated videos for LinkedIn, Uber, the United Nations, Tony Robbins, Harvard, Jenny McCarthy, AIBD and they will for you too!

To receive the embed codes for use on your website or to schedule an appointment with the Draw Shop to customize the video for yourself, contact the AIBD staff by calling 1-800-366-AIBD(2423) or email: info@AIBD.org.
