AIBD First Vice President Karen Kassik-Michelsohn awarded “Builder of the Year”

Karen Kassik-Michelsohn of Michelsohn and Daughter Construction, Inc. (M&D), has been awarded “Builder of the Year” by the Anchorage Home Builders Association (AHBA). AHBA is an association of Builders, Remodelers and related businesses.

Kassik-Michelsohn coordinated between the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), AHBA, and the area’s home designers to implement a new zoning code, Title 21. Her and her team illustrated to MOA which components needed to remain in the code, and which needed to be removed. She also established a group that would continue to monitor Title 21.

Kassik-Michelsohn has been designing Custom Homes and Remodeling for over 25 years and is both a Remodeling Design and Aging-in-Place Design specialist. She has been featured in many publications and the TODAY Show promoting the need for accessible and multi-generational housing. She has lived in Anchorage since 2010 and is a principle in Michelsohn and Daughter Construction, Inc.

“I am very blessed to have received such an honor from my peers. It requires work from many to create and promote affordable and beautiful housing. I am passionate about contributing to the promotion of Residential Design and Home Building“, said Kassik-Michelsohn.
