At the AIBD midyear meeting in Las Vegas, Central District Director Ron Ressler announced the Regulatory and Legislative Advocacy Committee has composed three IRC code amendments to be considered during the 2015 code cycle.
- Copyright Protection: AIBD submitted a proposal that would establish a procedural requirement at the building department to ensure that some safeguards to protect copyrights of designs by precluding unauthorized duplication.
- Brace Wall Details: The committee submitted text clarifying the trigger for requiring when brace wall details are to be included in construction documents.
- Definition of Building Designer: A definition change to remove the “registered design professional” definition and broaden the term to include building design was submitted.“The code development process will require a tactical outreach at the national and state level.” Says AIBD’s staff building code liaison Mike Fischer.
