Join us for the May edition of the First Tuesday @ 2:00 (May 6th, 2:00 p.m. ET) as we discuss “re-use fees” with a panel of AIBD Professional members. What are re-use fees? Who do you charge them to? How do you determine how much to charge? These and any other of your questions will be answered during the hour-long online panel discussion.

NCBDC Marketing Color smallRegistration deadline for NCBDC CPBD exams in San Antonio.

Anyone wishing to take one or more of the NCBDC Certified Professional Building Designer exams on June 4 & 5 in San Antonio, Texas, must submit their registration form to the AIBD National Office by 5pm EDT Thursday, May 15th. Anyone interested who hasn’t already been approved by the NCBDC Evaluation Committee should submit their certification application form and supporting materials immediately.

All the applications and registration forms are found in the CPBD Candidate Handbook which can be downloaded from the NCBDC website:

Group of young people in training courseApply now for $1000 student scholarships.

The Institute’s College of Fellows awards two scholarships each year, the College of Fellows Memorial Scholarship and the Annette Farmer Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship recipient is awarded $1000 and they are named at the AIBD National Convention.  The scholarship winners will be announced August 1st at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, Columbus, OH, as a part of the AIBD National Convention. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2013.

This week in Columbus: A Wonderful Day In the Neighborhood: Rush Creek Village

Registration is now open for the AIBD Convention & iCORD conference is July 29 – August 1, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio:


While visiting Taliesin West in 1946 Martha Wakefield, the co-founder of Rush Creek, was approached by Frank Lloyd Wright himself, who told her ‘‘Go home, buy a Jeep and build a house for yourself. Then build a house for your next-door neighbor.”  ”That’s what we did,” she said. ”A lot of neighbors…”

The organic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, demonstrated in his Usonian houses, was the major inspiration for Rush Creek Village. Construction began in 1954 with the house of Martha & Richard Wakefield, who then became the builders of the 50+ other homes..
