Measure and discuss the five personality traits that were developed over three or four decades by several independent scientific researchers. As an employer, use these tests for a number of reasons. They are commonly used to evaluate job candidates to find the best fit for the opportunity. Employers may also assess current employees, so they can support their individual strengths and create effective teams. |

Educational Session – The Architecture of Traditional Neighborhoods
Using the content written in his book, Architecture of Traditional Neighborhoods, learn simple concepts that will help you quickly grasp the basic ideas behind traditional neighborhood platting and block-face design. Apply your training to apply the methods and materials to designing traditional high-end custom homes, as well as those for production builders, who build most of our nation’s housing. |

Educational Session – Communicating Your Architectural Style
Allow author and historic design consultant, Ariel Faith, to walk you through the process of navigating through local design criteria, shaping a traditional home, and effectively communicating your designs to a local city or private community, the builder, and the homeowner, throughout your entire project. Learn how to present new ideas in an old community, beginning with precedence, identifying key elements, referencing and working with pattern books, and still conform to the intent of the codes and criteria. Go back to your practice understanding what a New Traditional building is not, and why Google searches are so confusing. Finally, be able to more confidently present a design that communicates key elements the community is looking for which will save you time. |

Welcome + Educational Session – Modern Materials for Traditional Designs
Begin applying guidelines to help you work within the limitations of the construction industry while taking advantage of building material innovations that add value to TNDs. The session emphasizes a “less is more” approach to achieving sustainable communities that are also quite beautiful. See the revelations of what today’s modern materials are capable of. It moves away from over-adornment of individual facades and puts the focus on the entire block face as a design collective, giving way to natural elements that define each architectural style. |

Educational Session – Drafting Styles: An Art in Communication Through Working Drawings
Drafting skills is an art of communication displaying the styles of Architects and Designers. Join us for a discussion on the importance of drafting and how it has developed the styles of many Designers displaying meticulously crafted and extremely accurate working drawings. From proper dimensions to giving full attention to detail, this course will educate Designers on personal styles that display the communication art of drafting. AIBD Designer Bernie Kern, along with a few AIBD members and winners of ARDA’s working drawings category will share blueprints of their styles of work from hand drawings to CAD communication. |
